Originally, we made our ‘Tree Change’ move to the beautiful Mornington Peninsula simply to escape the ever growing hustle and bustle of suburban Melbourne. We purchased a property with a small orchard, a comfortable bluestone home, some rudimentary shedding and an aging cement water tank. Over the next few of years, we created a vegie garden, nurtured the orchard, prepared the soil, planted more fruit trees and included berries. We decommissioned the leaky water tank, installed more suitable ones, renewed fences and built a new and improved shed. By 2012 we were using our orchard produce to make delicious relishes, jams, jellies and pickles for a selection of restaurants and cafes on the peninsula. In the meantime, our family grew with the inevitable addition of pets. We now enjoy the antics of Airedale Terriers Toby and Bonnie and rescue cat, Ginger. (you can see Toby and Bonnie sitting under the spreading tree on our logo. We are a bit besotted with Airedale Terriers) Late in 2017 we took a further step and opened our Farmgate Shop. Products are available online as well as from the shop. Merricks Farm Mornington Peninsula is resolutely dedicated to providing customers with a ‘gourmet’ experience in the form of homemade jams, relishes, chutneys and honey from our hives. We are committed to using fresh home and locally grown raw fruits and vegetables and to sourcing Australian ingredients in the preparation of food products.
